Who is 'Leona Corbin Studio'?
Leona Corbin is the one-woman show behind ‘Leona Corbin Studio’, a small home-grown illustration shop that specializes in humorous and joyful greeting cards. Leona is a self-taught artist who has been creating greeting cards for family and friends since as early as she can recall.
“I remember being a kid, dreaming up ideas before I would fall asleep at night –and I would have to pop out of bed and scribble my designs onto scrap paper, hunched over on the floor in the dark of my room, drawing as fast as I could in hopes of not forgetting them by morning. I’ve always felt cards were as, if not more important than the gift itself, because it’s where you get to express that special, heartfelt or funny message to tell that person what they mean to you.”
About the Artwork
Leona Corbin Studio designs are inspired by people, nature and a sense of humour. Ideas are always quickly scribbled onto anything paper-like that’s around when inspiration strikes –old receipts, used or unused napkins, the back of printer paper, and of course occasionally a proper sketchbook. Designs that make the cut are then hand-rendering with ink and finished with watercolour. How is it decided what makes the cut? If it brings enthusiasm or a laugh out of either of her children. Ink and watercolour are Leona’s preferred medium after years of playing with a variety of materials. Once original artwork has been digitized, designs are printed on a luxurious matte cardstock to create a unique folded work of art for your enjoyment.
